About the Festival

The Mountain View Dance Festival, presented by the San Jose Ballet Association (SJBA), celebrates creativity and connection through movement. 

The 2026 theme is "Groundbreaking"—a reflection of this being the festival’s inaugural year. While applicants are not required to create work that aligns with the theme, we encourage all artists to keep it in mind as the spirit of this year’s program.

Founded in 1972, SJBA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit performing arts and education organization dedicated to offering high-quality performing opportunities and dance enrichment programs for the local community. Building on this mission, the Mountain View Dance Festival seeks to bring together artists from diverse backgrounds and styles, creating a welcoming platform to share work and inspire audiences.

Call for Artists

We invite choreographers, dance companies, ensembles, and individual artists of all backgrounds to apply to perform in our 2026 showcase. We welcome all forms of movement, from traditional to experimental, and encourage artists working in any genre or discipline of dance to share their voice.

Please note: At this time, we are unable to provide stipends for participating artists.

If your work is still in progress, you are welcome to apply—simply share as much detail as possible about your piece.

Application Criteria

• Pieces should not exceed 8 minutes.

• All dance and movement styles are welcome.

• Please provide a video sample (completed work or rehearsal footage) and a short description of your proposed piece.

• Applications are due by December 31, 2025, at 11:59 pm.

• Artists will be notified of acceptance by the end of January 2026.

Festival Schedule

• Thursday, May 28 (4:00–9:00 pm): Tech rehearsal slots available.

• Friday, May 29 (10:00 am–2:00 pm): Tech rehearsal slots available.
  Accepted groups will be able to sign up for their preferred tech rehearsal times.

• Sunday, May 31:

  • 9:00 am: Call time & dress rehearsal (no tech time will be available).

  • 1:00 pm: Mountain View Dance Festival Showcase begins.
